It went largely under the radar just how much effort Ed Morris put in to the Tinsel Trail.
He volunteered for a little light washing up but was soon taking on much bigger responsibilities to take care of a totally blind participant. So, Ed ended up spending huge amounts of time with multiple reccies and then preparing and researching guide running. He took time off work to fetch and transport Louise and did you see the state of him when he got back? He had blood pouring from multiple cuts and scrapes where he’d clattered through the bushes and was covered in mud from where he’d taken the falls to keep Louise on her feet.
Of his own initiative, Ed also enlisted some ladies from his gym to join the event so that they could stay near and help him out if needed.
Good news, we have reinstated the Wenlock Olympian Walk into our calendar. This year we will keep to the 50 mile clockwise route via Holdgate, Abdon Burf, Craven Arms, Acton Scott and Hope Bowdler. Entries will open Jan 8th. More information soon.
Are you joining us on the Telford Tinsel Trail on Sat. 23rd Dec.?
Final preparations are under way for the LDWA Marches Group Christmas walk.
Several group members walked the route last weekend to make a final check on the route.
We noticed a couple of points in the route description that could have been clearer so we’ve made 4 small edits (in paras 16.17, 19 and 24).
The revised RD can be downloaded here.

A couple more important notes:
It seems the gpx file for the Tinsel Trail does not download properly.
Perhaps this method is better, if still no joy, email me and will send attachment in reply.
Tinsel Trail GPX
so they say
I am still 'sur le continent' but I hope all went well on the Tour de Marches. I shall be sorry to miss the 50th Hike; good luck to all Marches members lucky enough to get in. Planning for the Tinsel Trail 2017 is well under way, and a provisional on line route will be available soon. Neil is taking entries go to the the main LDWA site for full details.
Thanks to all who replied to my letter in June. I will be collating the responses and getting back to you on my return,
Meanwhile our view tonight looks like this.
It is only July, the Longmynd Hike in October is full, Neil is fussing about the The Tinsel Trail in December and Jayne is sending me details about the SSC next February. I have got a 70th birthday in Venice in September - but entries for that are already closed.

South Shropshire Circular 2018
For the 36th SSC, we pay a return visit to Norbury to enjoy the facilities of its splendid new village hall. The hill country around Norbury is some of the most attractive within the AONB, with long stretches offering extensive views from Rights of Way largely unhindered by gates and stiles. Add to this the fact that the route is on one OS Explorer map and the country is made for some fine, fast walking or running. But it should not be underestimated in winter conditions.
You can view more information here.
Entries will be online through SIentries and will open in October.
I know you all hate on-line surveys, I certainly do , but please could all members have a look at this one. We have over 200 members, many of you I have never met or just punched your tally at a checkpoint or fed you some lovely homemade soup. We would like to know a little more about you and what you think of us.
Entry details for all our challenge walks are on the main LDWA site and of course in Strider
